About IPTM
|
The Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) was established in 1980 to provide management,
traffic and specialized training to municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement officers.
The Institute has since become the largest police training center of its kind in the United States, annually
training more than 14,000 officers from throughout the world.
Operating under the University of North Florida's Training and Service Institute, IPTM is a direct support
organization of the University of North Florida.
The Institute also presents training programs under contractual arrangements with government agencies throughout
North America and abroad. In 1997, IPTM acquired the Public Safety Institute located in Orlando, Florida.
It is a division of IPTM and serves as an additional training facility.
The faculty consists of professionals who combine practical law enforcement skills with many years of police training
experience and academic backgrounds necessary to effectively train in-service law enforcement officers.
The full-time staff is supplemented by a highly qualified adjunct faculty from government, private industry and the academic community.
IPTM training programs are specifically directed toward operational, supervisory and command law enforcement personnel.
The courses are designed to improve the students’ skills and abilities in performing law enforcement tasks while,
at the same time, acquainting them with new developments in law enforcement areas.
The combination of highly skilled instructors and practical “hands-on” training provide officers with a unique opportunity
to meet the needs of their agencies.
