Blood Pattern Analysis
|
|
This course will give you the knowledge and skills to properly document, preserve, and collect bloodstain evidence left at a crime scene and analyze the evidence to help determine what happened.
You will learn about the different types of blood spatters, how they are made, and what they reveal. You will also learn how to analyze the patterns to help determine the sequence of events that occurred.
Topics include:
-
Differentiating between different types of impact blood spatter
-
Using impact angles to determine point(s) of origin
-
Recognizing low velocity blood spatter
-
Determining the direction of travel of the suspect/victim
-
Recognizing bloodstains deposited on ceilings or walls
-
Differentiating between contact and smeared bloodstain patterns
-
Determining the source of contact and smeared bloodstain patterns
-
Differentiating between projected blood and free-falling blood
-
Determining the relative degree of force required to produce a bloodstain pattern
-
Determining the height of the impact site using point(s) of convergence
-
Determining the distance of the impact site from the wall using point(s) of convergence
-
Determining the number of forceful impacts
-
Determining the location(s) and orientation(s) of persons and/or objects
