The key to any successful traffic crash investigation lies in the knowledge the investigator possesses. Mr. Rivers provides this knowledge by leading you step-by-step through the investigation process. Topics such as how to inspect a vehicle, how to photograph a vehicle and crash scene, how to estimate the speed of a vehicle and how to interview a witness or victim are discussed in detail. He also devotes time to the environmental factors and human elements that may contribute to a crash. Throughout the manual, Mr. Rivers defines the most common traffic terms. He does this in an attempt to establish uniformity among investigators. Whenever possible, he provides the reasons why a procedure is performed in a particular manner. R.W. Rivers is one of the foremost practitioners of crash reconstruction. He retired in 1985 after serving 32 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
